A Tale of Two Macarons

One of my all time favorite places in DC is Olivia Macaron. Anytime I make my way to Georgetown I have to stop for these cookies filled with a tasty ganache. However, there was always this nagging feeling because I knew there was another macaron store in Georgetown...how could I know I was eating the best unless I went to the other store?

My brave sister-in-law decided to go on this quest with me, to find the best macaron in Georgetown! Our first stop was Olivia Macaron. Look at their cute macaron wall.

They always have the cutest seasonal window displays. This was their display in the summer.

Look at all of these beautiful macarons that just want to get in my belly!

I think that true love is when you see a macaron flavor and think "maybe I should take one home to my husband that is doing homework" (hence all the duplicates). These were some seasonal summer flavors that changed my life. Each one I ate tasted so delicious I didn't think the next could be better, and somehow it was. The absolute best was the S'mores. I ate it later in the evening and it had a wonderfully melted middle. How does that even happen??

The next stop was Macaron Bee.

It used to be its own store, however now it is combined with Lady Camellia and is a tea salon with macarons and pastries. Unfortunately, the day we went it was closed for a bridal shower, so we weren't able to get any interior shots. We were able to get some macarons and eat them on the stoop like a couple of stoop kids.

The flavors we got were raspberry, chocolate hazelnut, chocolate lavender, and pink champagne. They were good, however I was disappointed in the lack of flavor choices. I also felt like the choices I did have were very basic.

At the end of the day, I'm going to keep going to Olivia Macaron.

This is not a sponsored post. All the opinions in it are my own.
